A 17 day semi-participation camping safari through the wildlife haven of Botswana. This safari provides a comprehensive tour of the best wilderness areas in Botswana, including the magical Okavango Delta, Moremi Game Reserve, and Chobe National Park.  You will also get to experience one of the oldest cultures in the world, that of the San Bushman.

Day 1: HAINAVELD (camping)
The safari begins in Maun where your guide will meet you at 07h30 at a pre-arranged meeting point.  As the safari starts early on day one, you will need to overnight in Maun the night before, and purchase drinks for the safari the day before. We can assist with pre-safari arrangements (accommodation and transfers).

On day one you will travel 170km to a game farm on the northern border of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, set up camp and have a safari briefing. In the afternoon you will participate in a nature walk led by local San Bushmen trackers. They will share their intricate bush knowledge and give you an insight into their unique and intriguing culture.
Included meals: lunch and dinner

You will wake up with the sun and enter the pristine wilderness of the largest game reserve in Botswana. The next four days will be spent exploring the undeveloped wilderness of the northern region of the Kalahari, moving from camp to camp.

You will visit Passarge Valley (days two and three) and Deception Valley (days four and five) in your exploration of the Kalahari. It is here, on game drives and while in camp, that you will take in the incredible night skies and uninterrupted beauty of this remote area.

This is adventure camping in its purest form –  water and communications are limited (time for a much needed digital detox!), and we travel as a self-sufficient group. We camp in designated campsites with fixed/bush ablutions.
Included meals: all meals

Day 6: MAUN (lodge)
After our final morning game drive in the Kalahari we return to Maun. In the afternoon, there is the option to take a 45 minute scenic flight over the Delta (own expense). This magical experience provides an altogether different perspective of the Okavango Delta’s channels, winding water courses, and prolific wildlife. During the flight it is possible to spot large game animals such as elephant, giraffe and hippopotami.

We overnight in a comfortable lodge.
Included meals: breakfast & lunch

Days 7 – 9: OKAVANGO DELTA (camping)
On day seven we head into the incredible Okavango Delta, starting your adventure in the southern tip of the Delta, a special corner of paradise. Once you have reached the edge of the Delta, you will meet your experienced polers with their mekoros (traditional dugout canoes), and it’s then time to make your way into the heart of this watery wonderland.

Quietly cruising along reed-lined channels and floodplains, you will enjoy the spectacular landscape of this unique region as you make your way deeper into the Delta. You will spend two days exploring this beautiful area with mokoro excursions and guided nature walks on the islands and floodplains of the Okavango, camping wild with bush ablutions on a small island for two nights.

On day nine, we make our way towards the drier regions of the Delta and camp in a concession outside the Moremi Game Reserve
Included meals: all meals

Days 10 -12: MOREMI GAME RESERVE (camping)
On day 10 we enter Moremi Game Reserve, one of the greatest wilderness areas in Botswana, which includes both swamps and dry areas.

The next three days will be spent searching for the wide variety of wildlife and birds that this area is renowned for, while also absorbing the many sounds and awesome beauty of this region. Game drives in the early morning and in the late afternoon will be the norm, and after your morning game drives, you will return to camp for lunch and a siesta.

On day 12 you will move campsites to explore a different area of this diverse park. Camping will be in private designated campsites with bush ablutions – two nights in western Moremi and one night in eastern Moremi).
Included meals: all meals

Days 13 – 15: CHOBE NATIONAL PARK (camping)
Chobe National Park, with its diverse and striking landscapes, will be your next destination. We will traverse the drier regions of famous Savuti, known for its bull elephants, and then we will head northwards to the Chobe River and the melodic call of the African Fish Eagle.

Camping will be in private designated areas with bush ablutions, first in the Savuti area on day 13, then in the northern part of the Park closer to the riverfront on days 14 and 15.
Included meals: all meals

Days 16 -17: VICTORIA FALLS, ZIMBABWE (lodge)
After a short morning game drive in Chobe National Park, you will then drive to Victoria Falls on the Zimbabwe side (Visa required), where you will spend the night at a comfortable lodge.

In the afternoon of day 16 there will be time to visit the mighty Victoria Falls and shop for curios. Dinner will be at your own expense at the lodge. The safari officially ends at 10h00 on Day 17.

We are happy to arrange post-tour accommodation, activities, or transfers to Livingstone Airport or lodges, Victoria Falls Airport or lodges, or Kasane, Botswana, at an additional cost. Activities in Victoria Falls include white water rafting down the Zambezi, canoeing on the upper Zambezi, elephant rides, and helicopter flips over the Victoria Falls.
